Spaceship crash!

4 January 2017 (by admin)

Year 1 start the term with a bang!

While in music today we heard a loud bang! Mrs Hopley came in and told us not to worry and that she'd caught something on the CCTV to see what had made the noise. We couldn't believe our eyes when were saw that something had crash landed on the school field! Whatever could it be?! Mrs Hopley called a scientist to come and check it over and see if it was safe for us to take a closer look, but when he did it started smoking! Eventually the smoke died down and he told Mrs Hopley it was safe for us to take a closer look. He even asked if we could help him in his investigation and send us the reports we write. So this afternoon we have drawn pictures of the crash site, described what we've seen and told our friends what we think has happened. We will be sending off our findings to the scientist and hope he writes back soon. Please do not be alarmed by anything your children tell you about this - it is all a show to help engage them in their learning for the term. We would ask that parents support the children's learning by keeping the magic going for the next few days until the scientist replies. The more immersed the children are, the better their learning experience will be. Perhaps you could do some work on it at home together... your child could draw what they think the complete spaceship looked like, or the alien / person who was travelling in it, or write a letter to the scientist or the alien. Please send any work they do in to share with their friends. Many thanks Mrs Hopley and the team :-)
